Geotechnical and hydrogeological investigations have been carried out, to ascertain the stratigraphic and geotechnical characteristics of the cemetery terrain. The area is partly island and partly landfill. Samples were subjected to laboratory analysis to determine the nature of the terrain, the dynamics of ground water and the reasons for the obvious subsidence along the north-eastern wall.
